Do you want to become an Apprentice?

Academic qualifications can be a great indicator of an individual’s ability for future employers but some people are more suited to a vocational route where they can demonstrate and develop their skills in a more hands-on-environment. To support this requirement ALS offers a range of apprenticeship programmes, which are a great way of combining learning with the real world of work.

There are number of benefits that apprentices can enjoy.

  • Apprentices earn a wage whilst training for a career
  • You will achieve a recognised qualification linked to your selected career choice
  • Apprentices learn real skills over a period of time - it’s about proving competency on-the-job rather that studying for a one off examination

To become an apprentice you need to meet a certain criteria:

  • Aged 16+
  • Working five days per week in your company (minimum 30 hours)
  • Employed on an apprenticeship contract
  • Paid a minimum of £3.50 per hour (for at least the first year of their apprenticeship, then, if applicable, receive an hourly rate of pay which is in line with the national minimum wage)
  • Allowed to complete an industry recognised apprenticeship framework
