Developing employability skills for people in North Wales.

ALS, one of the UK’s leading training providers, has been contracted to deliver the Welsh Government’s Employability Skills Programme; a new   initiative to support unemployed adults 18+ to gain skills and experience to help them secure a job. As a leading business and respected employer,

We believe you can help make a difference by offering high-quality work placements, and or training opportunities, to those who have the right motivation and attitude to work, but are lacking in the skills and experience required.

How does it work?

ALS will meet with unemployed adults, aged 18+, who are keen to get into employment but are struggling to achieve the relevant experience. Each individual will receive a tailored Employability Plan written and managed by ALS, and will be placed into leading businesses like yours. There are two ways as an employer you could benefit from the Employability Skills Programme.

1. Are you able to offer work experience placements?

We understand that some businesses feel that offering work placements can be time-consuming, however with this programme ALS will do all the work and provide all the support to the individual as necessary.

Benefits to your business:

  • ALS manages the recruitment process of each individual and will place the right person to fit within your organisation
  • Each Employability Plan is written bespoke for every job-seeker so you will see their full commitment when working in your business
  • We will also write a work experience plan around your business needs to maximise every opportunity
  • We carry out regular mentoring sessions to ensure everyone is satisfied with the activity and the results being achieved throughout the process, and can offer further training, where relevant, to develop identified skills gaps
  • Work placements provide cost-effective, long-term recruitment opportunities, and if the placement leads to permanent opportunities, we’ll continue to support you with further training and mentoring
  • And finally, you’re truly making a difference to individuals locally and to the country’s future workforce
2. Do you have a large number of vacancies you would like to recruit for within your business?

If the answer is yes then we could develop a bespoke training programme, lasting up to 8 weeks, to help prepare potential applicants for employment within your business. ALS will design the programme with you and, with the support of the local Job Centre, who will identify interested applicants. Together we can offer you this bespoke approach to recruiting future talent. Your role is to work with us to ensure the applicants have the best chance of gaining employment with your company by giving work experience during the 8 weeks and guaranteeing applicants an interview for future employment. If successful we will continue to support you and the individual for their first three months of employment.
