What is a PLA (Personal Learning Account)

PLA (Personal Learning Accounts) are flexible, part-time courses of learning supported by funding from Welsh Government to boost the skills of people in Wales.

Contributing to career development and empowering individuals to adapt their skills to the fast changing requirements of the workplace. PLA courses can be online e-learning, delivered in a face to face environment or a blended combination of both online and face to face delivery. Flexible PLA courses can be accessed alongside your current employment where eligibility criteria are met.

ALS Training provides access to a range of Digital courses across some of the core disciplines of Information Technology and accredited through CompTIA. Cardiff and Vale College provide access to a broad range of PLA funded courses across;

  • IT and Digital
  • Net Zero and Green technologies
  • Logistics (in particular HGV/LGV driving)
  • Advanced Materials and Manufacturing (including technical engineers)
  • Hospitality (including chefs, catering assistants, waiting and front of house staff
  • Health and Social Care re-engagement.

Who is eligible for a PLA Funded Course (Personal Learning Account)?

ALS training partners with Cardiff and Vale college to offer a range of digital PLA funded courses.

If you’re aged 19 or over, living in Wales and any of the below apply to you, then you could be eligible:

  • employed (including Agency and Zero-hours contracts)
  • self-employed
  • full-time carers

AND earning under the median income £32,371.

Earn over £32,371?  We have a range of Digital and Net Zero Qualifications which are PLA Fully Funded and have no salary cap.
